ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Pethrena Shirley is an integrated health consultant experienced in recognizing and assessing disturbances within the body’s energy systems.
Born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica, Pethrena grew up with traditional Jamaican folk medicine, music, and dance for healing the mind, body, and spirit.
She has earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from San Diego State University. Is a certified energy medicine practitioner, (one of the five domains of "complementary and alternative medicine" identified by the National Institutes of Health), certified yoga teacher and soft tissue therapist. Pethrena has additional training in energy psychology, cranio-sacral therapy, qigong, active isolated stretching & strengthening “The Mattes Method”, ayurveda, somatic movement, pilates and dance. She is also certified with the American Council on Exercise.
In addition to ongoing training in the healing arts, Pethrena has been blessed to study the teachings of Mindful Living with the celebrated Vietnamese Buddhist monk, Thich Nhat Hanh; powerful energy balancing meditation techniques "to help each individual actualize his inherent potential" from the Enlightened Master and modern mystic Paramahamsa Nithyananda. Also initiated as a Nithya Spiritual Healer by Paramahamsa Nithyananda. Pethrena has also done extensive meditation retreats and studied in Bangalore, India, advanced courses in The Art of Living and meditation with His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.
She is also a teacher and lecturer at the renowned Golden Door in Escondido, California.
Encouraging physical, emotional, and spiritual health, are Pethrena’s greatest aspirations.
